6×12 Mesh Activated Carbon for Gold Recovery

Mining-grade coconut shell granular activated carbon, precision graded to 6×12 mesh for CIP, CIL and CIC circuits. Engineered around the number that actually matters at site: how much gold stays in your carbon instead of washing out with the fines.

Activated Carbon Coconut

Made for the most demanding gold adsorption applications

Inside a CIP or CIL tank, carbon is hammered from three directions at once: constant mechanical agitation, slurry particles grinding at every surface, and repeated pump transfers between tanks. Softer carbon sheds fines — and those gold-loaded fines pass straight through the intertank screens into the tailings. That is why we start from dense, high-lignin coconut shells and activate to a tightly controlled micropore network sized for the aurocyanide complex Au(CN)₂⁻.

The 6×12 mesh cut (1.70–3.35 mm) is the compromise most gold plants converge on: large enough to resist abrasion and stay retained on standard intertank screens, small enough for fast film-transfer kinetics so shorter tanks still hit target barrens. Every shipment is verified not just with routine tests but with metallurgical performance data — K-value capacity, R-value adsorption rate, ball-pan hardness and attrition loss — so what you ordered is what arrives.

– Low attrition, fewer gold‑loaded fines lost to tailings
– Micropore structure tailored for aurocyanide complex uptake
– 6×12 mesh balance of mechanical strength and fast adsorption
– Stable K-value capacity and R-value adsorption rate batch to batch
– Excellent inter-tank screen retention for CIP/CIL operation

Activated Carbon Application Process

From dissolved gold to doré, one carbon handles every adsorption step.

01

Leach

Cyanide dissolution puts gold into solution as Au(CN)₂⁻ in CIP, CIL or heap-leach PLS.

02

Adsorb

Micropores capture the aurocyanide complex; high R-value keeps residence times short.

03

Screen & Elute

Uniform 6×12 granules stay on intertank screens; loaded carbon strips cleanly for electrowinning.

04

Regenerate

Thermal reactivation restores capacity for dozens of reuse cycles, slashing make-up carbon cost.

Why 6×12 Mesh for Gold Circuits

Mesh choice is an economic decision. Here is how the common cuts trade off in an agitated leach circuit.

6×12 Mesh
GOLD STANDARD

The default for CIP/CIL/CIC: enough mass to survive agitation, reliable screen retention, and adsorption kinetics fast enough for standard tank residence times.

4×8 Mesh

Coarse option for low-grade heap-leach CIC columns where pressure drop and attrition matter more than kinetics; slower gold uptake.

8×16 Mesh

Faster kinetics for plants chasing higher throughput, but higher screen loading and fines risk — best with robust screening and gentle transfer design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do K-value and R-value actually tell me?

K-value is equilibrium loading capacity — kilograms of gold one ton of carbon can hold at saturation. R-value is adsorption rate, which decides how fast barren solution levels drop. High K protects you in low-grade ores; high R buys you smaller tanks or higher throughput. We report both per batch, not just iodine number.

Why does hardness matter more for gold than for water?

In a water filter, lost carbon is just a media replacement cost. In a CIP tank, every broken particle carries adsorbed gold — and fines slip through screens into tailings where the gold is gone for good. Attrition below 1.5% is the difference between controlling your carbon spend and quietly losing ounces.

Can I get 6×12 mesh in a custom iodine value?

Yes. Standard production runs iodine ≥1050 mg/g, and we can tune activity (900–1300 mg/g) or CTC to match your ore test work. Send us your bottle-roll results or target spec and we will confirm feasibility with a matched sample before you commit to volume.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Trial orders from 1 ton; free samples for lab verification. Stocked 6×12 mesh ships in 7–10 days, custom activity grades in 15–20 days. We ship FCL/LCL to major ports worldwide with complete export documentation.
